Tribute - George Frederick Thrupp

A Tribute of Gratitude

For GEORGE FREDERICK THRUPP (Koro Hōri)

01/04/1927 – 21/03/2026

The family of George Fredrick Thrupp (Koro Hōri) wishes to extend deepest gratitude for the unwavering compassion, patience, and support afforded to our whānau during an unprecedented period of loss. Navigating the passing of a cherished Father and Koro has been the most volatile chapter of our lives, yet your presence provided the stability we so desperately needed.

To those who undertook the journey from both near and afar, your arrival served as a physical testament to the impact of his life. To those who offered condolences and shared the mātauranga (knowledge) of his stories, you have woven a cloak of comfort around us that we will wear forever.

We wish to formally acknowledge the medical staff whose clinical excellence was matched only by their profound humanity. Your tireless dedication ensured he transitioned with the utmost dignity, and we shall treasure your sincerity for the remainder of our days.

Furthermore, our thanks to Gateway Funeral Services for the rangatira (noble) care shown in preparing our father for his final return. Because of your meticulous work, he was able to lie in state upon his ancestral house, Toikairākau, with the honor he deserved.

Last but not least we would like to thank Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi CEO and Operations team for the use of the marquees and for your support during this time.

“E ngā hapū o Waikirikiri marae a Hāmua me Ngāti Mura, mā te aroha e tānikoniko te whānau.” (The hapū of Waikirikiri marae, Hāmua and Ngāti Mura will weave the love of the whānau together.)

Sincere thanks from Hori Thrupp whānau.
